How WGH EMS Works For You

Whidbey Island's geography presents unique challenges in terms of the availability of resources and the timely, efficient and fiscally responsible delivery of emergency medical pre-hospital care. WGH EMS has been meeting that challenge for over 25 years. WGH EMS is structured in such a way as to allow for the rapid expansion of the 6 full time ambulances to over 11, in times of high call volume or disaster.

  • All EMT”s and Paramedics in Island County follow state and nationally recognized medical protocols, and legally work under the license of a Medical Program Director or MPD, who is based at WGH and available “on line” 24 hrs./day for system oversight and medical control..
  • WGH ambulances are available 24 hrs./day to provide emergent as well as pre-planed inter facility transfers both "off" and "on Island."
