Acute Care (Medical/Surgery Unit)
The Medical/Surgical Unit is a 37-bed unit staffed 24 hours a day with an all-licensed staff of Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). Many of the registered nurses are certified by the American Nurses Association for their expertise in medical-surgical nursing. The unit is equipped with a state-of-the-art telemetry monitoring system for cardiac patients. Nurses are equipped with a wide variety of skills, and routinely care for medical, surgical, and pediatric patients.

Critical Care Unit
The Critical Care Unit at Whidbey General Hospital is a seven bed unit that has been set aside for the care of people with symptoms of a heart attack, or for those with medical or surgical conditions requiring close observation. The unit is equipped with state-of-the-art monitors and staffed with specially qualified nurses.
Dietitian Services
A registered dietitian works as part of the multidisciplinary team to provide nutritional care to all inpatients at WGH in accordance with hospital administrative policies, standards of JACHO, and the American Dietetic Association. Individual outpatient nutrition education is available for patients with diabetes, cardiac disease, congestive heart failure, weight management, or other nutrition therapy prescribed by a physician. Our dietitian is a Certified Diabetic Educator and participates in our Diabetes Education Classes.
Emergency Department
Whidbey General Hospital’s Trauma Level 3 Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The department treats approximately 15,000 adults and children every year, for minor ailments to life-threatening emergencies. The thirteen-bed department is staffed with highly trained physicians and nurses around the clock.
