Cholesterol (Heartwise) Risk Factor Screening

Cardiac disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. There is a lot a person can do to help prevent or reduce the risk of heart disease through risk factor modification such as exercise, weight loss, controlling high cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes, smoking cessation and relaxation.

The "Life Center" is trying to help reduce the risk of heart disease in our community and offers the Heartwise Screening.

The Heart Wise exam is a fee for service appointment for those individuals concerned about their risk for developing/reducing the risks associated with heart disease. It will include a complete lipid and glucose panel, risk stratification, and one-on-one review of both pieces with a registered nurse. Strategies for intervention will be discussed and questions answered. This exam will be available in by appointment only.

This one hour risk factor screening consists of:

  • Complete cholesterol test (LDL, HDL, Total Cholesterol, Triglycerides
  • Fasting blood sugar
  • 1 to 1 risk factor education with a nurse
  • An estimated 10 year risk of developing heart disease based on the Framingham Study)

Cost for the Heartwise screening is $65 or $50 if a person already has the cholesterol results.

Heartwise screenings are offered from 8am to 2pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

If you or someone you know is interested in the screening please call the Life Center at 678-7656 ext 2130 or 321-7656 ext 2130 for more information and/or an appointment.
