“I feel so safe! And my daughters have one less person to worry about.”

“Because I live alone, Lifeline puts me in touch with help from every corner of my home. I feel secure.”

“Lifeline provides instant help in case of an emergency. It can also be a source of company if you get lonely. It’s like having family to tell your problems to or share your life experiences.”

“As a survivor of a major heart attack some years ago, enjoying condo living as a widow of 87, my sons and I are very grateful for the peace of mind and security Lifeline offers.”

“Lifeline is like having the best friend you every had with you all the time – 24/7.”

The above statements are from Whidbey General LIFELINE subscribers in response to the question, “What does Lifeline service mean to you?”

Whidbey General Hospital has offered Lifeline, an emergency response system, since 1983. Lifeline subscribers and their families feel secure, knowing they can obtain help with the simple press of a button. Pressing the button activates a small home communicator, putting the subscriber in touch with a Lifeline monitor who quickly assesses the problem, sending help, if necessary.

The Lifeline communicator can be used to answer the telephone from across the room. This feature enables people to answer the phone without rushing to pick up the handset.

Whidbey General Lifeline offers a voice extension feature. In larger homes, with multiple stories, the voice extension can be installed on one floor, with the base unit installed on another. This insures that a subscriber can hear or be heard from anywhere in the house. A cordless telephone, with Lifeline service built into it is also available.

Our newest offering is the Auto Alert personal help button. With this service, if a Lifeline subscriber falls there is no need to press the Lifeline button. A call for help is automatically sent. The subscriber does not have to press the button.

Lifeline can be set up for people with limited physical abilities, allowing instant access to communication, personal safety and telephone answering at the blink of an eye, a roll of the head or puff on a straw.
