Whidbey Wellness for Whidbey Teens

Whidbey General Hospital's Life Center for Essential Wellness would like to introduce a new service entitled:

WHIDBEY TEENS
This program has been designed to improve wellness in adolescents between the ages of 14 to 17 who meet the minimum registration requirements for participation.

  • Participants must have a Body Mass Index (BMI)-for-age percentile > 85%, and/or Metabolic Syndrome or Diabetes.
  • Sports Physical, Lipid & Glucose Panel.

Participants will learn realistic and useful strategies to modify their lifestyle that will help change their way of thinking about diet and exercise.

Each session includes 45 minutes of education & 45 minutes of exercise.

Topics include: Developing an eating pattern that fits their lifestyle and meets their nutritional needs, reading and understanding food labels, nutrition education with a registered dietitian, meditation/stress management techniques that will help reduce stress eating, developing a safe exercise program and learn ways of incorporating physical activity into their daily routine

WHEN: Biweekly 8 weeks,  Spring session meets Tuesdays & Thursdays beginning April 20 – June 10 from 3:30-5:00pm

WHERE:  Life Center for Essential Wellness at Whidbey General Hospital

COST:  $160 for Dependents of Hospital Employees or Hospital Volunteers
             $250 for Dependents of non-employees
