During Your Stay
Care Management / Social Services
Care managers work with your doctor to ensure the highest quality of patient care in the proper setting.
Food Services
The Food Service department at WGH provides quality food that meets the nutritional and therapeutic needs of our patients. The WGH cafe serves three hot meals per day, including heart healthy and a la carte dishes for visitors and our staff.
For Your Safety
Hospital safety regulations prohibit the use of personal electrical appliances, e.g. shavers, hair dryers, electric toothbrushes. Battery operated appliances, which do not require recharging in the patient area, are permitted. All other appliances must be sent home.
Gift Shop
You don't have to be a patient to visit the hospital Gift Shop. Open from 10am - 4pm. Monday through Friday and from 1- 4pm on Sunday, the Gift Shop features the work of local craftspersons and authors as well as a great variety of gift items, flowers, cards, stuffed animals, toys, and daily necessities. There's always something new.
Identification
For your safety, you will be fitted with an identification bracelet when you arrive. It must be worn throughout your stay. Accurate patient identification is essential for medical and nursing care.
Lost and Found
We cannot be responsible for lost items, but we will mark your personal items with pink tape. If you lose an item, please call ext. 3050 or inform your nurse. If you have gone home, call 360.678.7656 or 360.321.7656, ext. 3050 or email us at myhospital@whidbeygen.org.
Newspapers, Mail, Flowers, and Balloons
Newspapers may be purchased from boxes at the hospital's front entrance.
All mail or flowers addressed to you will be delivered to your room. Mail should be addressed to our PO Box 400. Any mail we receive after you have gone home will be forwarded to your home address.
We are sorry, but flowers cannot be delivered to the Critical Care Unit for infection control reasons.
Preventing Falls
Help us prevent you from falling while you're here! Please don't try to get out of bed without help unless your nurse has approved it. Your illness or treatment may have made you dizzy or weak. If the side rails on your bed are in the "up" position they will protect you from falls and help you turn in bed.
Spiritual Care
A volunteer chaplain is available at various times during the week. If you have a special need, please contact Social Services at 360.678.7656 or 360.321.7656, ext. 2350, or through your nurse.
Surgical Patients
Family members wanting to speak to the surgeon after your operation should stay in the surgery waiting area. A nurse will keep your family informed of your progress.
