Whidbey General Hospital & Clinics, in partnership with the American Nurses Association, are planning a series of activities to observe National Nurses Week, held every year in May.
In an average year, approximately 200 babies are born in the Whidbey Family Birthplace. This year, 54 babies have been welcomed here through April 23.
Whidbey General Hospital opened 45 years ago, on March 10, 1970. Two days later, four patients were admitted and the first baby was born. In our first year, we cared for nearly 1,000 admissions and more than 500 emergencies, performed 10,000 lab tests and delivered 104 babies.
