M. Leah Oman MD


General surgeon M. Leah Oman, MD, joined Whidbey General’s medical staff in 2010. She has received advanced training in the treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the breast and holds a Fellowship in Breast Diseases from the South Carolina Comprehensive Cancer Center. She serves on our Cancer Committee, a multi-disciplinary team of physicians, patient care and support staff that works to ensure high quality oncology care. She led development of a nurse navigator program to coordinate care between surgery patients and our Cancer Program. Dr. Oman performs minimally invasive general surgery and specializes in the surgical management of melanomas and complex burns, wounds and infections. She is past member of our Peer Review Committee, which evaluates the hospital’s care to ensure it meets quality and patient safety standards.

  • Skin sparing techniques for improved cosmetic result
  • Sentinel node surgery
  • Minimally invasive surgical techniques for stomach, gall bladder, appendix, hernias and large and small bowel
  • Surgical management of melanoma and other malignant and benign skin disorders; complex burns, wounds and infections; free graft and advancement flap techniques
  • Upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy
