Whidbey General Hospital

Amy Ayers Scholarship Fund

Amy Ayers had a long and distinguished career at Whidbey General Hospital, beginning as Chief Nurse Executive in 1978 and retiring after seven years as Chief Operating Officer in 2002.

She was admired and respected for her knowledge, skills and leadership. She was loved for her dedication to patient care, her commitment to Whidbey General and her willingness to freely share what she knew. Ayers was first and foremost a nurse, but was appreciated for her attention and respect to every job and every employee’s contribution.

The Amy Ayers Scholarship Fund was established to honor her and her service to health care in our community. Annually, the Whidbey General Hospital Foundation Board of Directors determines the number and amount of scholarships that will be made available to hospital employees to pursue training that will directly benefit or enhance patient care.

Scholarship opportunities may include graduate, post-baccalaureate degrees and/or training that leads to certification or advanced credential accreditation.
